Help to live!
108 donors supported the campaign “Help to live!”. They have donated 1809,50 Ls (2584 EUR). These financial resources were used to donate the Bible, New Testament and other books for children to the non-profit Christian charity organization “Raven's Fund” that support people in need with food. Thank you for all our donors!
The Raven's Fund provides supplies of basic food for poor families suffering from economic recession. There are 30 centres of the Raven's Fund around Latvia – 18 - outside Riga, 12 centres – in the capital of Latvia - Riga. Before distribution of food usually takes place short worship service.
Alvis Apinītis, director of Raven's Fund: “Bibles will be given to families who have started to attend regularly a parish and who do not have their own copy of Scriptures. It is very important to receive the food. But food can be consumed very quickly. Who can give hope to people and help them to overcome difficulties of life? It is the Word of God that can change their lives.”
Every Saturday About 50 people are gathering at the Vecmilgravis Cultural Centre to take part at the service and to receive food afterwards.
Ilze, Romāns and Director of the Raven's Fund Alvis Apinītis. Romāns is unemployed for very long time. He and his wife Ilze have become voluntaries of the Raven's Fund. They are very happy about the large-size Bible because it is difficult to read small font in their age.
Until now Jolanta and Armands borrowed the Bible from friends. Now they have their own copy.
