“My Advent Gift”
Campaign "My Advent Gift" has been finished in February 2011. 1483 donors supported this campaign. They have donated 12 560,50 Ls (17 942, 8 EUR). These financial resources will be used to implement the second part of the Bible learning program "Bible Adventure". This part is aimed at teaching the New Testament to children. 10% of the campaign income (870,- Ls/1242 EUR) will be delivered to the Georgia Bible Society for donating children Bibles for children of families displaced during the August 2008 Russian-Georgian war.
The Latvian Bible Society the first time asked it's donors to support other Bible Society. We ourselves have a lot of people amongst us whose lives are not easy because of economical crisis. Therefore it was a challenge to see how donors will react to the request to help “strangers”. However response of our supporters was about 3 % higher than previous year. “I was a stranger and you received me in your homes..” (Mat 25:35)
One of supporters wrote: “I am happy that I offer a little help to Georgian people because my distant relatives are Georgian. I know what does it mean to live under terror of war. I and my family members were refugees in Czechoslovakia during the Second World War.”

The General Secretary of The Georgian Bible Society Avtandil Guruli donated Children Bibles for children from refugee families.
