The Bible Day service at Riga Mathew Baptist Church

On 28 February the Riga Mathew Baptist Church organized the special service dedicated to the role of the Bible. Members of the church choir read all 176 verses of Psalm 119. General Secretary of the Bible Society Valdis Tēraudkalns talked about ministry of the Bible Societies around the world and particularly in Latvia. Ņikita Andrejevs preached about responsible ways how to interpret the Bible and to apply it to our lives.

Thanks to all members and pastors of the Matthew Church for this very special worship service.

Your word is a lamp to guide me an a light for my path.” (Ps 119:105)

Ainars Baštiks, pastor of Matthew Church: “This service is historically significant because for the first time all verses of Psalm 119 have been read.”

Valdis Tēraudkalns, General Secretary of the Latvian Bible Society: “Every organization has its foundation story. For the modern Bible Society movement it is the story about Mary Jones, a Welsh girl who for 6 years saved money to purchase the Bible and walked about 30 km to get it.”

Money was collected during the service to support the ministries of the Matthew church with Bibles. After the raffle owner of one “lucky envelope” got the Study Bible.
